Large amounts of biowaste are generated in households, large kitchens and the food industry. What cannot be composted ends up in incineration. This is a complete waste because the fermentation of this material could produce valuable fertilizer and climate-neutral biogas. Both the carbon cycle and the nutrient cycle close with this type of biomass utilization.

At the biomass fermentation plant in Pratteln, organic residues are recycled using a two-stage combined fermentation and composting process.

The 90-minute guided tour deals with these processes and explains them in an interesting way.
