Planning a movie night with friends
Actually, I just wanted to go to the movies with a few friends. I’d seen the trailer for Downsizing and texted a handful of people to ask if they’d like to go to Vienna’s Burgkino cinema on Saturday. But then, once again, a huge debate broke out. “Can’t we watch it in German?” “I’d actually prefer the afternoon – I don’t have a babysitter.” “But with this newspaper coupon the Artis would be cheaper.” “I can only go on Sunday.” “I’m in Egypt right now – let’s do it next week instead.” “I’ve already seen Downsizing – how about The Shape of Water?”
And the various communication channels available to us these days don’t make the whole discussion any easier. One person refuses to install WhatsApp, another gets so many messages that they don’t even read them anymore. After everyone has communicated their preferences in different ways, I end up not knowing who’s actually coming. It’s a curse.
Quick and easy planning without endless back-and-forth
Honestly, just the thought of it is often enough to put me off. I’d rather just stay home. My great plan to organize a movie night with friends falls through because I get overwhelmed by the tedious planning right away. But now there’s actually a solution for frustrated event planners like me. Let’s Meet makes short work of the tedious organizing.
Just register once and upload your email contacts, and you’re good to go. Create an event with a location and date, and invite the friends you want to join. Done. Let’s Meet automatically sends out invitations and reminders. You can easily keep track of who’s signed up. Of course, the platform provides space for comments when participants sign up. But only a reasonable number – namely, one.
Admittedly, this form of social planning does require a bit of determination. This isn’t for wimps who first need a thousand Doodle polls to agree on a date and activity in a grassroots democratic manner. If you don’t respond to the Let’s Meet invitation, you’re simply not in. But thank goodness I’m past the age where I always have to please everyone.
“More free time. Less organizing.”
